My Story
About Kevin
For the first 25 years of my life, I didn't think much about what it actually took to change. I mostly went wherever the wind took me. I had to work hard to get through school, probably harder than most, but I wasn't particularly intentional about the direction my life was heading.
That changed when I was 25.
I made the biggest change of my life: I got sober.
It started with one decision. I asked for help.
But that decision was only the beginning. There were countless other decisions I needed to make, behaviors I needed to change, and things I had to do differently to make recovery possible.
More than 20 years later, I've built a life that looks very different from the one I was living back then. And it didn't happen by going wherever life took me. It happened by making changes. Some were difficult. Some were uncomfortable. Some had a big impact on me and the people closest to me.
Along the way, I've become a little obsessed, in a good way, with understanding how change actually happens.
Today, I'm a mental health professional and therapist, business owner, marathon runner, and someone in long-term recovery. Each of those experiences has shaped how I understand human behavior, how we change, and what it takes to get things done.
I'm also the founder of Whole Mind Therapy & Counseling, a group psychotherapy practice in Massachusetts.
What I've Learned
Where My Perspective Comes From
For more than 20 years, I've worked in mental health, sitting with people facing circumstances that sometimes seem unimaginable.
I've watched people navigate significant challenges in their relationships, mental health, physical health, and everyday lives. I've also watched people accomplish things they once believed were impossible.
And I can say with confidence that I've learned just as much, if not more, from the people I've worked with than I have from any book, training, or podcast.
One thing I've come to understand is that motivation isn't always the problem.
Many people want to change. They know what they want to do. They may even understand exactly why they're stuck.
Change isn't always straightforward.
But something I've seen repeatedly is the impact of taking action even when doubt is present. Taking small, consistent steps even if you’re not what the outcome will be.
I've had to put these ideas into practice in my own life, too.
The Purpose
Why I Created This Website
I wanted a place to bring my ideas, interests, professional knowledge, and personal experiences together.
We live in a time when so much information is shared through quick social media posts, short videos, and content designed to capture someone's attention for a few seconds.
I'm certainly not immune to any of that. I've spent my share of time (and still do!) creating content, posting videos, and trying to figure out what works with an algorithm.
But I also wanted something different.
A place where I could slow things down, explore ideas more deliberately, and share my thoughts without trying to fit everything into a 30-second video.
I'll write about human behavior, change, building better systems, personal development, and lessons from everyday life. Some of it will come from my professional experience. Some will come from my personal life. And some will be ideas I've been thinking about and want to explore further.
I don't have all the answers, and I'm not pretending to.
But I've spent a lot of my life thinking about change, watching it happen, struggling with it myself, and learning what helps people move forward.
This is a place to share some of that.
And if people find it useful, great. If not, it still gives me a space to put my ideas into words.
